Black tumbled Wall Stone has gone through two separate stone processing techniques – blackening and tumbling – by skilled stone masons at the quarry:
Wall stones are blackened by staining the stone with environmentally-friendly dyes.
Tumbling is when quarried stones are placed in a machine called a rock tumbler which slowly rotates its giant drum causing the stones to tumble against each other. By tumbling chips off small pieces, this softens the edges and creates that distressed but rustic appearance.
At Whitehall Stone Sales we supply a wide variety of blackened, tumbled stone. We mainly stock 100mm, 140mm, 215mm as well as random lengths.
